I have a master's degree in Social Psychology from San Francisco State University, and I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology from Sac State. Since then, I've enjoyed teaching across the bay area.
Experience
I am a psychology instructor at the community college and state university levels. I have taught statistics and research methods courses (in addition to a variety of other undergraduate level psychology courses). I have also tutored both college and high school students throughout the bay area. I chose to add tutoring to my schedule because I have seen, first-hand and from an instructor's perspective, the need for additional support outside of the classroom, particularly when it comes to classes like statistics. It is in this area that I can help you! Statistics and/or methods can feel intimidating when they are new to you - I identify with this experience as a student! Really; I remember what it felt like to fear a statistics class. My ability to bring a professor's perspective and expectations to your tutoring experience can be tremendously helpful for you. I am committed to helping my students understand what is expected of them, connect with the material conceptually, and apply this understanding to their course assignments and exams. Most importantly, I make it my mission to make these courses feel less insurmountable -- they're really not so bad, I promise! Having the opportunity to use this one-on-one time to more deeply (while also a bit more casually) work through the concepts in students' courses really helps me connect with them and see more immediate results. This is great for both of us! Separately, I also happen to not only be fluent in Farsi (including speaking, reading, and writing), but I have worked as a teaching assistant at the Farsi Language Learning Center in Sacramento. If you are taking a Farsi class and need some help staying caught up and reviewing the alphabet, vocabulary, sentence structure, grammar, speaking, reading, etc., I am happy to help!
